Combat Training

eing a re-enactment society, combatant members learn to make and use real weapons and armour based on historical evidence. For this reason, the training regime stresses SAFETY! with members being put through a standard training regime. The weapons we use are deliberately made blunt but are in every other way the real thing.

n the photo above you can see members at combat training learning to fight in close formation. Note in particular the spearman on the right. The spear was very effective against a 'shieldwall', a line of warriors with their shields locked together. The spear could be used to get past the enemy shields.

raining is held every Sunday fortnight at 2.00pm at Walka Water Works, 5 minutes drive from Maitland Centre. Please come along and meet us.
